The Viral Bedroom That Started My Bed-Styling Era—What I’d Do Differently Now

This is the bedroom—and the very early TikTok—that started an entire chapter of bed content for me. I originally published this page in 2020 as a shopping list after the video took off. Six years later, some products have disappeared, some links have dated and my eye has become considerably more restrained.

I am keeping the original sources below as an archive because people still find the video and ask about individual pieces. But this is no longer a recommendation to recreate the room item for item. The useful part is understanding why the bed worked on camera—and which ideas still hold up.

What still works: generous bedding, proper curtain height, a clear focal point and a room that feels complete rather than temporarily furnished. What I would edit now: fewer cushions, no decorative throw for the sake of it, less styling clutter and a stronger distinction between the architectural shell and the furniture.

The current formula is simpler: a properly sized duvet, a fitted sheet and top sheet, sleeping pillows with enough structure, a clean cuff and one considered finishing layer if the room genuinely needs it. The bed should look inviting, not as though a homewares aisle fell onto it.

The original 2020 shopping notes remain below. Treat availability and prices as historical, and use the links as references rather than a current buying list.

What still works

The four-poster bed created a strong outline, the full curtains softened the rental shell and the generous bedding photographed beautifully. Those principles still hold.

What I would change now

I would use fewer cushions, remove the decorative throw, lose the plant styling and give the bed more visual breathing room. The current formula is simpler: a properly sized duvet, fitted sheet and top sheet, sleeping pillows with enough structure, a clean cuff and one considered finishing layer only if the room genuinely needs it.

A put-together bed does not require more objects. It requires better decisions.
